- A huge “thank-you” from Team Hope for your generosity in donating Shoeboxes once again this year. 123 shoeboxes were donated at our school. The people from Team Hope who collected the boxes last week were absolutely delighted to receive so many. Thank You!
- A beautiful afternoon of “Musical Youth” was held in Boyle on Sunday 15th November in which our school choirs participated. All the children’s choirs from Co. Roscommon performed so well and the afternoon was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
We are deeply grateful to Liz & John Nugent who worked so hard in preparing the children from our school for this event. It is much appreciated by us all. A big thank you to all parents, grandparents and friends who attended on Sunday and who had all the children looking so well in their school uniforms. A voluntary contribution was collected on the day for North West Hospice which amounted to almost €700. Thank you all!
- Preparations are underway for “Carols by Candlelight” which will be held in St. Michael’s Church, Croghan, on Thursday, 17th December at 7 pm. All the children will participate. Details to follow.
- Very well done to the Quiz Team of Tórin O’Donaile, Nessa Flynn, Phelim Flynn and Rachel O’Connor who took part in the Library Quiz that was held in Elphin last Thursday. A big “thank-you” to Mr. Kelleher who prepared the team and brought them to the quiz in Elphin.
- A very big “thank-you” for your support of our Christmas Card and 2016 Calendar projects. Commission on sale of cards is put towards swimming lessons next term and commission on sale of calendars will be put towards an activity for all the children during summer term.
- In January, a meeting of all parents of children who will be receiving First Holy Communion on 7th May, will be held.
The purpose of the meeting is to set up a Parish based programme called “Do This in Memory”.
This programme is a preparatory programme for families of First Communicants. Details to follow after Christmas.
- The children in Ms. Creighton’s room have entered a “Share a Breakfast Moment” competition. It is based on a Healthy Breakfast pack which they have used in class.
- As school is open on two Church Holydays – December 8th & January 6th – the children from 1st class to 6th class inclusive will be brought to mass in St. Michael’s Church, Croghan at 10 am, on both days. If you do not wish your child / children to attend mass on these holydays, please send in a note to the relevant class teacher.

- We just heard the great news today, that we have been awarded the “Digital Schools of Excellence” award.
We will receive a wireless digital printer, a thousand euro of printing equipment and a plaque.
